    After uninstalling nero 7 windows media player does not recongnize my dvd burner uninstalling sony burner and restarting have done nothing. to correct problem. Studio 11 was also disabled but reinstalling corrected that part.

    It can't see/read the burner? Or it can't use the burner to burn discs?

    Windows media player in the burn mode gives message connect burner and restart. burner is in device manager.

    Typcially, what happens when adding/changing hardware or software, is the registry gets corrupted. Some software, such as Alcohol, allows you to rescan the systems for attached burners, and then it configures them. I don't burn with WMP, so I don't know if it has such capability or not.
