I have searched the archive of this group, found others getting this error message and still do not know how to resolve this. Advise?

I am encoding with Quick Preset to VCD.
This default set Video Codec to MPEG1 (.MPG) (mpeg2enc)
I am using a VIDEO_TS folder from a couple of folders deep on the hard drive.
When the Progress window comes up, it says failed and clicking the info button I get the error message below.

If I change the Codec to (ffmpeg) I do not get the failure.

The initial install of ffmpegX was done using the install instructions and downloads as directed.

    1. How to correct this error?
    2. What would be the difference between writing a VCD or DVD for standalone player between these two Codec? why use ffmpeg vs mpeg2enc. Since the default quickset choose mpeg2enc I thought that might be better.

VIDEO_TS to mpeg-1 is not supported in the current version (you should use VOB input). VIDEO_TS input is supported when converting to mpeg-2 or mpeg-4.

For VCD encoding, ffmpeg is better and faster, but it does not create fully compliant streams (eg. it produces VBR mode streams with short high-bitrate peaks). Some DVD players will not accept such streams. For VCD encoding, mpeg2enc is slower but fully compliant to the VCD standard with CBR streams.

You must first make sure that Quicktime Player is able to open your source. In your case you probably miss the Quicktime mpeg-2 player component.
