  1. I have a Chrysler 2002 Minivan and it came w/Mopar rear-seat DVD (in-dash). Just talked with Mopar and this apparently is a Mistubishi player. The Mopar guy claims that this *will not* play recorded DVD's of any kind. Does anyone know anything further about this? He was not able to give me a Mistubishi part number or anything - he wasn't very helpful beyond the "it won't work" answer he gave me.

Does anyone have any experience burning a DVD and then playing it on their Mopar in-car DVD player?

Thanks in advance. I just got into burning DVD's and I have a lot to learn so thanks again.

  2. More experimentation.

I have now tried a variety of DVD +/- R/RW and none of them work in this player. I also burned a VCD on a CD-R and this is not recognized either.

All were burned with a Sony DRU-500 (which I have not had any issues with at this point, anyway).

I can read the above mentioned disks on other players (with varying degrees of success), but have gotten all to work at one point or another. The only one consistently failing to recognize any of these disks is the Mopar player.

Again - any help here would be appreciated. I have to believe there's some way to do this and if someone has actually managed to get this player to recognize anything - I would appreciate it.

sorry to say but the Mitsubishi dvd players are not only built not to well - but use a lot of first generation techno also ....

we tested several of these and even had problems with some commercial dvd's ..

even the home players dont play much it seems: http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=&DVDselect=Mitsubishi&Submit=Search&Search=Search

  4. Thanks for the reply.

Would you think that a 3.95G Authoring DVD-R would work in this player?

I'm pretty sure that at about $20/disk - it's not a feasible solution but it might help to answer some questions...

Authoring DVD-r have the best compatability with any player by far ... but as you say at 20bucks a shot plus 3500$ for the burner not a real pratical solution (plus 1x burn) .

give it a shot for sure though ..

also i wouldnt give up on burned VCD's -- try all sorts of different dyes on cd-r's (blue, green, silvers etc) ... to confirm it can even play vcd's buy a pressed vcd ..

  6. Thanks again for the quick reply.

Just to save me time - would you happen to know of a pressed VCD I could buy somewhere to try this out?

As I have said before - I'm new to this whole thing and have learned more in the past 2-3 weeks than I ever thought I would (or would care to).

Thanks again - you've been very helpful.

  9. I'm following up on my own post with the answers in case this helps anyone else.

So - I tried the bundled SW that came with the Sony DRU-500a (MyDVD) and I was able to successfully burn both a CD-RW and CD-R that plays cleanly in the Mopar/Misubishi player in the van.

Longer term I would prefer to use a more powerful editing tool (specifically interested in being able to build more elaborate menus that I can with MyDVD) but at least I know it works.

I can't believe that with all the looks at this post nobody had any prior experience with this.

Anyway - regardless of what the Mopar guy told me - I now know that DVD-R and DVD-RW works in this platform.
