I'm trying out TMPGEnc DVD Author since DMF2 no longer allows the workaround for AC-3 sound.

I've got my little project here ready to burn, and the trial run (burning to a DVD-RW) went fine and dandy. No problems whatsoever.

But then when I tried the exact same project on a DVD-R, it burned for about a minute and displayed this cryptic error message:

    "Writing error. Cmd:42, Scene:5, ASC:33, ASCQ:2"

When I clicked the OK button, ANOTHER even more cryptic error message appeared:

    "BUR"

When I clicked the OK button, the disc ejected a nice little coaster for me.

I tried another disc, got another coaster.

Any ideas what's going on here? Thanks...

    You read my mind...

I was just about to post that I exited TDA, and burned the exact same VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD-R with Nero, and everything went hunky dory! Guess TDA's "DVD Writing Tool" has a bug that needs to be fixed in the next release.

    Thanks!

Which version of DVD Author are you using?

I'm using 1.5.13.44 with no problems. I was going to upgrade to 1.5.15.49, but if this is what is going to happen, maybe I'll wait...

Yup, I'm using the newest version. Apparently the problem is just in the DVD Writing Tool since Nero burns the same VIDEO_TS file to DVD-R's fine and dandy.

    I'm using 1.5.13.44 as well
But my dvd writer is not on their compatability list so I cant complain.
As long as nero keep working

BTW I did post on this here https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=641648&highlight=#641648 nearly 2 months ago.
Basicly if I burn dvd-r with TDA disc will only play on 1 of my 3 players

TMPGEnc DVD Author BBS (not easy to find from their web page!)-- http://www.pegasys-inc.co.jp/bbscgi/ebbs/board.cgi?board=tda

  8. Never a problem here! Never a coaster, and every disk plays in every player I have tried them in after burning with Tmpgenc Dvd Authors built in burner! Unlike the disks I Burned with Nero! Half them won't play in some players, All play in mine, and I found one player that played none of them. So for me Nero is a pot luck deal, may work may not!

Maybe you Guys having problems have a newer version than I do? Try going back to the previous version and see if it works for you. Not sure what version I have off hand, not at that system.

Just got a reply back from TMPGEnc tech support. They suggested upgrading the firmware of my burner (Pioneer 104 v1.31). Suppose it couldn't hurt...
