Tmpgenc DVD Author questions

Here's the deal....I don't even have a DVD Burner yet...but am trying to learn all I can until that day comes to save coasters. I have a few questions about Tmpgenc DVD Author:
1) Unlike Tmpgenc...this will accept .vob's with AC3 audio? correct? (I know this is not an encoder...
2) Will I need to rename the .vob's?
3) Once I have figured out all I can do or want to do with this program concerning menus and such....will what I(or the program) create be able to be opened in something like PowerDVD to see if the menus actually work correctly and look correct BEFORE it gets burned to DVD?

I basically want to experiment a bit with small .vob's to get the hang of the program....vob's from something like DVDShrink.

atleats in my experience it allows me to do everything except add music to my menu's

Yes, it will accept vobs with ac3
No, you dont have to rename them
yes, you can watch these on win dvd or power dvd before you burn them
