  1. I'm using DVD Shrink 3 beta 5 to back up the Matirx (original). I could do a direct backup fine but I want to reauthor and just get the movie itself. however when I drag the movie to the reauthor window the estimated file size shoots up to over 10 GB, but it still only lists 32% compression. I'm wondering if anyone has run into this problem and knows if its just a GUI problem or if DVD Shrink will actually output a 10 Gig file.

I reauthored the movie I own, movie only, stripped steams, etc. with no problems using shrink 3 beta 5. Try again, or go back to an earlier version of shrink and see what happens.

  4. no I haven't performed the rip yet. i didn't see any point in wasting the time on it if someone else had already had the problem.

I actually re-did that one last week.

    Multi-Angle.

There isnt' 10 GB there, it's physically impossible.

There are Multi-Angles there, so, what you are seeing is basically the same film with slightly different scenes here and there.

Simply rip the main movie with DVDDecryptor, do a little IFOEdit magic, then Shrink it. Very simple.

  7. Thanks for the info, i'll try it again when I get home today. I messed with version 2.3 this morning and saw listing of 4 or 5 files over 5 gigs so I figured there was some replication going on somewhere since the disk is just under 8 gigs total.

I guess you have seen the also seen the Matrix structure

In the region 2 version I have, there are 37 titles and there's well over 10 titles relating to the Movie IIRC

  9. rip movie only, ifo edit, and then shrink works a lot better. I don't know exactly what the deal was with DVD Shrink. in full backup mode it was fine but as soon as you tried to reauthor it lists a 10 gig output. I guess it just couldn't decipher the file structure on that DVD for reauthoring purposes. never had such a problem with any other disk.
