I just bought a Canon Optura 20 MiniDV camcorder. Will any ole firewire card and cable work to get my recordings to my computer? I am looking at this one....

Fry's have just started selling the Orange Firewire800 card for $40.
Make sure you're getting a 400 or 800Mbps card, I bought a 100Mbps card once for $3 (although I was really buying it for the 6-4pin cable!)
I expect that VIA one will be fine, I've heard the Texas chipsets are the best.
$6 + $10 shipping seems an OK deal, especially with the cable which sometimes retail for $6 alone. -
looks like a good deal

Will an 800Mbps firewire card be twice as fast as a 400. Or does the thing you are hooking up have to support the 800Mbps?
