  1. I recently purchased a Leadtek Winfast 2000 XP Deluxe Capture card and have a question about hookup for VCR capture. First off, my VCR is not state of the art at all. I have checked and it doesn’t appear to have an S-Video output on it. It does have the RCA Audio ins/outs though. The input cable supplied with the card has the S-Video input (male) that goes into the PCI card. The other end of this cable splits and has a S-Video female input and what looks a RCA female. Is this RCA female-like input what they refer to as Composite? Is this what I need to use. Would I need to connect the RCA video output of my VCR to this input cable. Do I need some other adapters to make this work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated-
    Thanks-

  2. jm4747,

I believe what you are seeing is the correct cable - it's a composite cable. Your card should have no trouble capturing from this - it sounds just like the setup my Ti4800 card has. Just plug it in - if you're stuck for a cable an ordinary phono cable will suffice but won't give stunning quality.

Just remember to follow the instructions that came with the card about connecting the other two phono ports to the audio input of your PC, or else you won't get sound - the composite cable carries video only.

    Hope this helps!

I have the same cap card and you do not need any additional adapters. The audio RCAs from the VCR go on the adapter with the little plug(looks like a walkman headphone jack) and the video RCA goes on the s-video adapter. Plug the S-Video into the corresponding input on the card and the audio into the "in" port and you're set.

Just a heads up. Do not have Notron Antivirus running while capturing.... The audio on mine would keep shutting off a minute in every time. It took me a few weeks to figure out the conflict. I didn't want you to go through the same thing. Best to shut all that software down while capturing.
