What is the dye used? Are they any good?

    I bought and burned ten.

I like them but I want to know more like what dye is used and if their better than others.

  2. The dye varies by manufacturer, just as it does with any other disc. Unfortunately, the black polycarbonate makes it impossible to look at the dye yourself. If you know who makes the physical media (not just who labeled the box) you can probably guess the disc uses their favorite dye. For example, discs from CD-Recordable.com generally use pthalocyanine, so their black ones probably use it too.

Experts say longevity depends more on storage and handling than on dye. For more detailed commentary:

There is no reason why they should be.
