Hey!
I probably made a mistake some years ago when I was capturing a video from my camera. This video has many black lines. I would guess I made something wrong with the bottom field or top field first preference...
As I think that there is no possibility to get back the lost fields I wanted to ask if anyone knows how I can "repair" this video by simply taking each existing field not for one but for two lines? I think that the picture will be unsharp then but it will look better than now...
Anyone knows how I can solve this issue?
Thank you!
Best regards,
Jarhead

You have interlaced video. Each frame contains two half pictures (called fields) taken at different times -- one in all the even scanlines, one in all the odd scanlines. The camera moved between the time the two fields were taken. When you watch this on TV you see one field at a time. Computers show both fields. You can use a deinterlacing filter to convert the two fields into a single image. Some methods are better than others.

And just to be clear, there's nothing wrong with that video. Unless you switched the field order somewhere along the line so that it plays all jerky/jumpy.

If you load the posted jpeg in VirtualDub and use the default deinterlace filter, you can try blend, duplicate field 1 and duplicate field 2 to see what it does.
To me duplicate field 1 looks the best. The others look very blurry. -
