Ok, I realized in waiting from a response from someone that with a dvd-ram, the "disc setting" menu on the panny e80 doesn't even give an option for "finalize disk" as it does for a dvd-r. That answers that question.
Thanks for the response. -
more in depth details of yoour problem and what you want to achieve will usually elicit an answer.

One does not have to finalize a DVD-RAM disc when using Panasonic player/recorders.
If you wish to know how to use Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 to extract the raw MPEG video/audio from a DVD-RAM disc...
1. Click the IMPORT DVD VIDEO button;
2. Browse to the location of your DVD-RAM computer drive and find the DVD_RTAV folder - highlight it - and click OK;
3. Follow the menu prompts.
As an alternative, one can sometimes use Microsoft Windows Explorer and to browse to the same DVD_RTAV folder and then copy the .VRO file from the folder to one's hard disk.
Then rename the .VRO extension to .MPG.
This method isn't always possible.
It depends on how the file was created.
