  1. Hi,
I use DVD2SVCD and CCE to create SVCD's and am able to fit 1h50min DVDs to 2 high quality SVCDs. I use the default settings provided by DVD2SVCD to create BIN files which I burn later using VCDEasy.

    My question are

    1. Does the quality of the movie depend on what software that is used for making the BIN files?
    2. Is DVD2SVCD the best for this or are there better programs? Also, does quality get affected by using different burning programs? I know, I shoudn't burn at high speeds so I stick to 8x and the results are fantastic. Was just wondering if the quality got affected by using DVD2SVCD to make BINS out of the mpegs it generated.

    Cheers

No, the quality is all in the encoding process - in the mpeg. The rest affects compatibility and playability. Creation of BIN files is mostly connected with authoring. The authoring may or may not be compliant (compatibility), and results in a file and directory structure somewhere on your HDD. The creation of the bin just takes this structure and builds a ISO file system from them. I can't see how this could affect affect quality.
The burner then takes this ISO image (bin/cue) and "engraves it" on a CD-R(W). Again, this will work or wont work - nothing in between, even if the issue with burning at different speeds contradicts this. (Here the playability is affected).
