I have been converting movies for a while now maybe about a month. i love it. I do it as a hobby now. well i just want to know if there is a program that is faster than tmpenc? it takes like 14 hrs for just half the movie. it is so annoying. also i just burned italian job from dvd to vcd and the movie is really small. how can i get it to full screen? and the last question is on a dvd it has menus, how can i get menus on a vcd? ok those are the questions. i have alot of programs for converting really haven't checked all of them out. i have been looking for some good reviews on how to convert with specific programs. and i just don't really like how CCE works, or AVI2MPG, or ?TMPENC? they all run so slow. for my dvds i have been using dvdx. that is also slow. i know i have a slow computer only 400mhz. but there has to be something that I can do to speed things up. I have Matrix Reloaded and Italian Job on my hard drive taking up alot of space and i don't want to delete it until i get the movies right. like matix is a full screen movie then when i convert to vcd it come out with borders. i don't want borders i want full screen. is there a way i can just change it from the mpg file instead of re-encoding the whole movie again from the IFO (DVD) file. Well if anyone can answer my questions i would be very happy thank you.

oh one more thing when i encode a IFO (DVD) file 2 VCD or MPG it encodes the whole movie in like 15 to 20 hours. and when i do the AVI's 2 MPG it takes 15hrs for just half b/c it is split between 2 files so i have to do 1 and then the other. should i put the 2 AVI file to 1 AVI file then encode and hope it splits it into 2 MPG files? please help any one thank you.

ok forget the rest how do you get to have full screen on all my movies i convert?

Full screen is a player setting. Depends on your player.
Alt-Enter does it on a lot of players.
On an Athlon 2.4 Ghz, I make a VCD from a DVD (don't ask, it's really a KVCD for the kids) at about 100 fps. That means it takes about 20-25 minutes to encode.
A Celeron 400 is preety slow. ESPECIALLY if it's one with no cache. I suspect you have one if you are taking 15 hours to encode a VCD.
If you want to take a 16:9 movie (matrix) to VCD, and not have black bars, then you will have to cut the sides off. It's one or the other, letter boxed or chopped. Letterboxed VCD's suck.

what do you mean cache how can i increase my cash. for some reason my computer runs so much slower now than it did a month ago. also i have the matrix dvd which is a full screen movie and then when i converted it, it went to small screen with black bars on top and bottom. i don't want to delete the ifo off my computer until i make a good vcd that i like to keep. any one help? i think my cache is like at 1.5 gigs
