    Greetings,

    Two things in this post:
1 - I just received RITEK disks from alloutletmedia.com. Here is the dvdinfopro listing when I burned one. Are they the good RITEK or the bad ones (If there is low waulity/cheap ones). I thought I was buying G03. May someone explain me please?

    Media Information
    Disc Regions are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
    Media code/Manufacturer ID RITEK R01
    Format Type UDF 1.02
    Volume Name EIGHT_LEGGED_FREAK
    Application id
    Implementation id mkisofs
    Recording Date/Time (mm/dd/yyyy) 11/ 1/2003 14:13:32
    Format Capacity 4.36GB(4.68GB)
    Book Type DVD-ROM
    Media Type DVD+R
Media Id Code Speed 2.4x 3324KBps
    Data area starting sector 30000h
    Data area end sector 22E2EFh
    Linear Density 0.267um/bit
    Track Density 0.74um/track
    Number of Layers 1

2 - Langa from www.langalist.com published on his site a very good article about the life of CD-R. He published a more complete article on infoweek.com (I think, but it is available through a link on his site). What it seems he discovered, is that the labelling glue affected his disks but not the ink of special CD markers. I found it kind of interesting and I wanted to share.

    Thank you

  2. If you thought you were buying G03's and got something else, you want to send them back and at least get your money back. That's just naughty.

I for one have never come across the R01 before... that's a new one on me. No idea on that dye type at all !

  4. Ah - that explains my naivity - I'm a -R man (and too lazy to look in the media list).

Could easily be the G03 equivalent, then... good job the guy in question has a +R or dual format burner !

    Greetings,

Indeed, this is a +R media. I am sorry, I did not know the G03 was a -R.
When I bought my computer, like many others, I got screwed by Dell. I did not know too much what were the different DVD formats and I trusted Dell. So, they sold me a not-so-good NEC1100A 2 months ago.

I had all kind of problems with different media brands and after reading on this site, I figured out that most people had no problem with the RITEK G03 and G04.

    Thank you
