  1. I'm trying to encode a VIDEO_TS folder to Divx for quite a while, and though I followed the guide exactly, word for word, it's still not working. When I hit the encode button, the progress thing comes up, but after less than a second, it says it's done, which is obviously impossible. It does create a .avi file, but it's only 4kb large, and for sure not the real movie. I'm running os 10.2.8 on a 1 ghz new iMac. Anyone else been having this problem?

  2. Check if you installed correctly. Post the process output (blue "i" icon on the Progress window).

  3. OK, tried it again this time, only I used a single VOB file instead of the entire VIDEO_TS folder, and I also encoded using MPEG4 [.AVI] (ffmpeg) instead of MPEG4 [.AVI] (mencoder). So one of these things doesn't work, and I'm inclined to think that encoding an entire VIDEO_TS folder is the problem, because I think I tried to encode the whole folder with a whole bunch of different encoder engines, and none of them worked. Do you know if encoding the VIDEO_TS folder is really possible? I mean, you do have a guide for it on the site, but then again I just can't get it to work.

I am having the same problem.

In most DVDs it works. But there is a new breed (maybe) of DVDs that are of an unknown format for "ffmpeg" or "mencoder".

when using ffmpeg i get this log:

Encoding started on Fri Nov 7 05:13:13 EET 2003
    /Users/mitsakos/Desktop/ServingSara/VIDEO_TS: Unknown format

when using mencoder I get this log:

Yes, it is possible, but only when using the following codecs:

    - mpeg-2 with "decode with mplayer" enabled
    - mencoder mpeg-4
    - xvid

If it doesn't work try the following:

    - check if you installed everything correctly
    - check if it works with a different VIDEO_TS
    - check the terminal output
    - send me the above to major4@mac.com
