I had the same problem. For me, the solution was to play the DVD in DVDPlayer before trying to backup. Evidently DVDBackup needs to have the DVD "authenticated" by DVDPlayer to get the encryption key.
hope that helps... -
thats an option, but it doesnt always solve the problem
i have one that i STILL cant get to process the VTS_02_xx.xx section. All the rest sure, but not this one. And what is VTS_02_0.vob? black screen of nothing for only 1 second
i think its a way to prevent backing up.
try copying the entire DVD to your HD 1st, then back it up off the HD, sometimes this helps -
the problem im having is everything was working fine until today. im using my older imac with an external dvd drive, dvd-105, i dont have dvdplayer, ive been using VLC to play the dvd. also, i tried to use dvdbackup with some of my already copied dvds and it still didnt work. dvdbackup always gave me an error that it cant process the .vob file. it wouldnt give me an encryption error, just the error saying it cant process the .vob file.
-
whats also weird is that it will process files that are under around 200mb but anything over it gives me the error processing that particular vob file

which dvd is this in particular?
-
i tried like 10 different ones so i dont think its the dvd, i also switched external burners and thats not it. I think it might have something to do with DVDBackup, but i cant even use osex or copy it to my harddrive. i think my computer might not be able to recognize it. but this never happened before. i dont have jaguar on that computer. im running 10.1 so i dont have apple dvd player to play the dvd, i use vlc. i think it might have something to do with that. but like i said, everything has been working fine for the past months until now and i havent been doing anything different. it really blows my mind.

the reason i asked is because newer dvd's may have some sort of protection on there that dvdbackup is unable to handle.
then again it could just be your computer. SIGNS is not wanting to copy over for me, says it cant copy Title Set 02 and it just quits. But if you saw my post, you can see it works on other peoples with no problems.
Why? who knows!
sorry i know its not much help but i was thinking it was only a one dvd in particular. -
thanks anyway, are there any other programs that i can use to play dvds instead of vlc or apple dvd player??

mplayer? i assume it would work, but have never tried it myself
