  1. Im using TMPGEnc to convert. At frist i tried to just load the xvid file in tempgenc and use th wizard to make it DVD ready. But it kept giveing my like 7.4 gigs size instead of 4.0 like it should. So i read on here somewhere that i should convert the audio. So i loaded up vdub and extracted the .wav. Then i loaded it all up in tempgnce and the file size did come out correct. so i went a encoded it. But then after i watch about 10mins for the mpeg i noticed that the sound was out of sync...

    what should i do?

Try extracting the sound with a different program like AVI2WAV or Goldwave.

As you didn't notice this until after 10 minutes, could it be the dreaded gradual sync loss? Then it's probably due to frame rate conversion. Does your source AVI and target DVD m2v have the same frame rate?
If it's off from the start, the audio and video in the AVI is probably interleaved with skew, meaning that the audio starts after the video in the AVI. When you extract the audio, this skew is lost, and has to be taken into account either by adding the same amount of silence at the start of the audio, or by multiplexing with offset/skew.

play around with your environmental settings first, and also set the bottom field in the wizard to "film movie"

"Baby - If i dont hit it, Who will?"
