  2. Buy it put it in and do it. Oh and have fun. Of course only make backups of games you own.
I cant imagine it not fitting in your case. It is an internal drive. As for ps2 v1 not playing backups all the chip sotes state that dms works for all ps2's.

Well version 1s werent really made with great lasers lots of people still have working ones but most people dont. If your laser doesnt seem to be giving you any load error problems with dvd movies or games you will probably be ok. However most people wont chip them because of 2 reasons

    1. The laser issue
    2. The (power supply) is a mother to resolder and desolder.
you have yto do this to get to the backside of the board whne
    installing a chip

I am an installer but I wont touch a version 1 for this reason but I know a guy who will but if he deems your laser not up to par then he might no do it. (You might have to pay someone 2 to install it in a new ps2 if your laser goes out or you could buy a new laser.

Also checkout www.livewarehouse.com on the net for a good price on a dvd-writer. Sony drive $138 without a rebate!
AS long as you have a regualr 5.25 bay it will work fine

    Hope this info helps

  4. $250 bucks to blow. I love that feeling. I saw on this sites price watch a nec-1100 for around $110. I have one that hasn't been a problem and if it works for you, you will still have some extra cash for other items that this hobby entails. For example, in my case, a capture card.

  6. Nec has a lot of issues but the new firmware might make it better.

    PS2s like -r media.

Ps2 games aren't copy protected. So they copy with Nero.

I use Accu disks they work perfect on Sony stuff.

  7. I flashed the NEC and I have had no problems. I will tell y'all that we know that the hardware is only as good as the support.
