I authored a DVD movie, roughly 4.296 gig, on a +rw disk. I installed an SPDIF card on an AMD A7N8X board, with 500 meg memory, and a 2800+ processor. I have connected the out from the SPDIF card to a receiver. The sound in this movie breaks up to the point that it is almost unintelligible when played in an HP DVD r/rw drive in the computer. I am also having sound and skipping problems when playing this disk in a Kenwood 5900M DVD player. However, I also have a Samsung DVD drive in the same computer and the disk plays fine.
Can anyone explain the reasons for the discrepancies? To make matters more interesting, I think that this DVD was authored in the HP drive. I also think that this DVD used to play OK in the HP drive before I put in the SPDIF card. Why would the card affect the playing of this DVD in one drive and not the other?
I am unwilling to take out the SPDIF card, since with it I can play through the receiver and main speakers and be done with the computer speakers.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you.
