OK. Don't go crazy. Take a step back and breathe. :c)

I have no idea where you may be going wrong in your encoding, but the following may help.

First - Do not just blindly do something someone tells you without looking into the possible consequences. You will find many posts here that say that codec packs, like you have just installed, can cause more problems than you originally had.

You need to uninstall that Nimo pack and any other packs you may have and hope it has not caused too much damage. Only install individual codecs as and when you need them.

Then - start over. Go to the CONVERT section on the left and read an avi to mpg Guide from start to finish. Then go back to the start and try each step. It will probably recommend using a different program for encoding, like tmpgenc. Try it that way. You may be able to go back to premiere once you've done a couple and experimented and have a better handle on the process.

Don't compress using Divx. You are wanting to eventually put mpgs on DVD, right? (Most people use Huffy on Mjpeg for any avi stage. Links are in TOOLS on the left under CODECS. )

But you should just use the original files as they are transferred to the PC. I don't know your camera, but it is probably a DV codec you need and you do not need to convert to anything between that and mpeg.

Good luck. :c) Stay sane. Sane is good.

  3. technology anit too amazing now is it
HAve you read the premier manual?
have you played your avi (source file) on your pc to check its ok?
as stated above, read and read again, what about evening classes?
or ask the shop where you bought the cam for advice?
my advice? run dvd2avi on your short test footage (5 mins). then run tmpgenc with all the default settings, try vcd, use the wizard and after a short amount of time you will have a vcd mpeg!! millions of others do it
