At the risk of sounding stupid, when you first open the dvd in dvd shrink should you be able to see it playing in the preview box and again when you reauthor it.
If it doesn't start playing does it mean there is something wrong?
Thanks.

allycat, the box Gazorgan is refering to can be found at:
"Edit >> Preferences >> Enable Video Preview".
If when this box is checked the Preview is still not working when you select a title or when you press the "play" button, there's definately something wrong. -
The enable video preview is checked but the only time there is a picture is when it is encoding.
Maybe that is why I have been having so many problems with it.
Is there a reason why this is happening? -
allycat, this could indeed explain why you have so many problems with Shrink.
I'd suggest you make sure your video card drivers are up-to-date. -
My pc was only purchased in July but it has been restored to its factory settings recently.
I am not sure how to make sure the video card drivers are up to date, where would I find them. -
Find out the made, model and drivers info for your video card (via Windows / Control Panel >> System >> Hardware >> Device Manager), and then go to its manufacturer's website (or make a Google search like "{your video card} drivers").
Let us know what video card it is when you've found out.
P.S: remember, this is only a possible cause for your problem. -
"Would it be a Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440?"
Well, you tell me.
It is.
Double-click (or right-click) on this entry to get some info about the driver.
You can then check if it's the latest one.
On the following page, it looks like "42.30" is the latest one for XP.

Just wanted to say thanks to you for helping me with all your suggestions.
I seem to have solved the problem of dvd shrink somehow. It was showing the main movie as title 5 and that seemed to stop the dvd from loading properly. I was able to play around with it until it showed title 1 as being the main movie and then it encoded into my Video_TS folder as it was meant to and now I have a perfect back up copy.
I knew how to use DVD shrink and couldn't understand what was happening but never mind all is well now.
Thanks again, especially to dllooping. -
You're welcome.
Glad you found a solution.
