I just got a new dvd burner. It is the TDK indi 440N , 4x Dual format 4x dvd burner.

And my question is can I still use 1x or 2x dvd +/- R's and RW's??

The reason why I ask is I use dvdXcopy gold and it seems to lock up when I put in a 1x or 2x DvD +/- R's.

Just asking to make sure. I didnt know that if it could or cannot use slower X speed dvd blanks.

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

    Ok,, did some testing.

I am using dvdXcopy Xpress "GOLD",, so this way I can see the buffer % and time it takes to complete my dvd backup.

    1st attempt:
    1st disk I used is LIQUID VIDEO 2x dvd-r

Results: did noting when I put the blank it. Well except locked my pc up. Could not even to a control alt delete shut down. I had to unplud the pc to get it back up an running.
Nothing was written to the dvd-R.

    2nd attempt:
Did the same exact thing as I did on 1st attempt above and same kind of dvd media. Results were the same. Locked up the pc and said it was initializing... but nothing happen (same results above on 1st attempt).

-- so I reboot pc again---

    3rd attept:
This time I used my MEMOREX dvd+r 4X disk.
    Started up DvDxCopy GOLD again.
when it asked me for the blank. Bang!!!! Buffer kicked on at 96% and the dvd+r 4x was writtin on. No probs.

Movie worked out in my home dvd player.

    --------------Delima.

    - I think the TDK 440N is a picky SOB!!!

    - I think it will not burn 1x or 2x medias dvd R's.

    - I think it will burn only 4x media and thats it~~~

-------------My opinion = This sucks. I still have a lot of BLANK 1x and 2x dvd-r's. Seems like I can't use them with the TDK 440N.

    ------------
Now question to the experts. What dvd burner do you recommend I use so I can use all speed dvd-r and +r / Rw's????

    Help me all....................
