I've just downloaded a short avi file from a site about capturing and codecs: http://www.geocities.com/fredthompson6/Screenshots/SWdvleia.avi
When I try and open it in VirtualDub, I get the following message when I try and go through the frames:
The Virtual Dub identifies that the file uses the PANASONIC DV codec, which I have installed, but I can't seem to go through the frames or play the file in any software player.
I've downloaded the file several times now so I know it's not a download error, and I assume that the authors checked the file first.
What can I do?

Try the free DV codec over in the tools section. You can also search Type1/Type2 conversions for DV video.

Tried the Canopus DV file converter:
'The file cannot be converted by this application'
