I have noticed recently whilst viewing MPEG files that an annoying white box continually jumps around the field of view on the screen. I assume that this is a way of protecting a shareware codec that I may have downloaded. I would like to get rid of it and the codec if neccessay. I have previously installed several codec packs including Nemo, K lite, and Elecard but uninstalling them does not remove the annoying white box.

    Can anyone offer any assistance?
    What's that burning smell?

The logo will only show up on video's encoded with the offending codec. Just find a video with the logo, and then look at it's properties with AVICodec to see which codec it is.

The codec can then be uninstalled, or disabled with 'Sounds and Multimedia' applet in the control panel.

Hmmm don't think this is the problem DJRumpy.......Sounds like the Elecard (mpeg2) shareware watermark .

Uninstall the Elecard product. Install different MPEG2 player - ie WinDVD.

Correct. the logo from the Elcard codec will only show up while playing MPEG-2 files. The same as the DivX logo will only show up while playing divx files. Randomly removing codecs isn't the most efficient way of finding the problem.
