  1. I recently downloaded some .bin/.cue files, and would like to view them directly from my hard drive. No need to copy to a CD. Which player is best for this?

I tried VLC. The audio comes through, but the video looks "scrambled" or highly pixelated. Am I missing some kind of setting?

    Many thanks,

    Tony

If you have Toast installed (either 5 or 6), hit Apple-M to mount a disc image. In the Open dialog, select your .bin file and wait a few seconds. If the material was properly authored, the .bin will mount as a CD on your hard drive. From there, use VideoLAN or MacVCD to play it.

since they are "downlaoded" its possible that they are corrupted.

typically just opening the .bin through VLC will play them directly
from file menu, go to open file and then select the .bin

OR you can just drag the .cue to the icon of VLC this will then launch the resulting .bin and you can watch it in VLC

to test if its a problem with the creation of that .bin, rip out the mpeg file with VCDTOOLSX and then open the .mpeg in quicktime if you have the mpeg2 playback component. or even MPLAYER OSX to test to see if indeed it is a .mpeg encoding problem
