  1. Hi,
I currently use Adobe Premiere, if I capture (via firewire) my footage, surely I can capture at a higher resolution than (720x576) cos thats only 414,720 pixels. What I want to do is, capture at higher resolution so I can reframe the picture or zoom in without loosing the actual resoltion.
My camcorder has 540 lines of resolution and 1Mega pixel resolution, something like 600,000 effective pixels.
Please help if this is possible, and how I can do it. Thanks
I'm a bit of a new-comer to the world of Dv,
    Thanks

If you are doing a DV transfer, you aren't capturing. Your transfer will be at the resoulution of the device that is outputing the DV file to your computer.

  3. Right,
But the avi files that are created when I do a batch capture are at 720 x 576 resolution, is there a way of increasing this to something higher, and not just stretching it?
    Thanks

720X576 is the standard DVD PAL resolution. As far as resolution goes, you can't add resolution that's not there in the first place.

  5. Thanks, I know that's the resolution of pal but surely if my camcorder is recording video at 600,000 pixels or more thats greater than 720x576, so can I not get that greater resoltion into my computer, at say 800x650 so I can reframe the picture get rid of some of the edges without compromising the actual resolution.
    Sorry if I'm being thick.

Well, I'm not an expert on camcorders, but DV will only ouput from your camcorder at the resolution that is set internally in the camcorder. Video is compressed to DV using a AVI codec in the camcorder. You probably could capture with a video card from the video output of your camcorder as uncompressed AVI, but you will have very large files. Not sure of what resolution you can capture at but if it is above DVD resolution you would just have to downsize it anyway. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a DV interface.[/u]
