  1. Does anyone know the Rip Speed on Pioneer 16X DVD-ROM DVD-120S?

I know liteon is one of the best rippers, but I thought the slot loader would look pretty cool with my shuttle XPC.

and one more question, with AnyDVD program running... will it speed up the ripping speed? due to it disabling macrovision.

    Thanks.

This is still my main drive. And I can recommend it (but I'd wait for the 121).
Addionally I use a Philips burner, which is not so fast with ripping!

  5. i have 120s, it rips ok but takes quite a while to rip it, maybe 15 mins, there is firmware for it to make it region free which is good though! i expect the ripping speed is locked, but i dunno at what speed, certainly not 16x, it aint that fast
1)Why Not Overclock a little?! speed 4 free!!!!
    2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website

  7. I've got a Lite-on 165H and my rip speeds have been known to easily hit 16x on good quality, pressed single layer discs.

Between 4x and 9x on dual layers, on average. Depends a lot on the disc you're ripping, of course.

I just purchased several Pioneer 120S's for computers that I am building for myself and other folks. I also have the older 116's. I have not done a comparison between the two drives but basically see no differences in performance.

As garryheather said "Between 4x and 9x on dual layers, on average. Depends a lot on the disc you're ripping, of course." This is what I have experienced.

I have used AnyDVD but can not say there is any performance increase.

AnyDVD makes ripping go faster than, say, the ripping in DVD Shrink. But it certainly doesn't go any faster than DVD Decrypter, for example.
