  1. Okay, I'm a newbie, but I consider myself intermediate on PC/Mac knowledge (I know some people are tards in Newbie area.."can you help me open my DVD Drive..."

Anyway, here is where I am at. Ripped my DVD (which is fully purchased and legal) using Smartripper. Worked great. Now here is where I think trouble started. I need to edit out little chunks of each VOB (hope I am using right term..maybe it is VTS) for which I used an oldie but goodie. MPEG2VCR editor (think that is Womble right?) Again, perfect edit and I saved it to Mpeg2 without altering any settings.

I thought that it would be no problem opening my Mpegs with an authoring software like DVDit......but it will not recognize the files. They play fine on Windows media player. Just can't get anything to see these mpegs. Anybody got any advice as to what I can do. Should I try to use something newer to edit the VOB's. Is there a VOB editer that would allow me to edit and then just save the files back as VOB's so I can just reburn to DVD.

    Thanks you guys.

Hmm, seems like more work than needed. I just use dvd author, add the vobs one at a time and just edit out what I want and author it. Just add the same vob after you do your first start and end edit, add it again, start your edit where u left off with the first. Heck, I keep going sometimes and burn it right after, but usually I will preview it first on my pc to make sure I got the cuts right.

    You have 2 different problems.
1, You want to edit MPEG2 files
    2. You want to author those.

    Sonic DVDit sucks.
Your editing seems to work .. so the answer is get another Authoring program.

Dont edit the mpegs, edit the vobs as this will have less problems.

  7. DVDit PE, does not suck, its been working great for me and many others. It will not take VOB directly, you need to demux them first and import them as elementary streams, thats all.

Absolutely. One of the best programs I've come across. Works great if used properly.

I have a real old version. It insists on PCM audio and rejects
    mpeg2s for no apparent reason.
