I have been reading quite a lot lately about the quality of various CDR and DVD brands and I want to determine what I have; however most of the cd's that I try to read the ATIP infromation from, show no info, no manufacturer, no layer type, nothing - all unknown. It is inconsistent, however, because some blank and some burned cd's do show this info, and some blank and some burned, do not, and the TDK/Ricoh DVD+R's read fine in the DVD writer.
My CD writer and DVD writer are both recognized, and burned CD's test with no errors when using Nero CD Speed or DVDinfo. I also tried using CDRidentifier. and it sees the drives, but not info from the media, in many cases.
Is this a common occurence? Any help appreciated.
