  1. A friend has asked me for some help, so I am turning to you all.

She has some 8MM sony videos that she wants to pull a couple of still pictures from. (I am assuming .jpg)

The Sony camera has rca outputs, so I figure if she gets an analog capture card, that will get her started. I am lost on what software to recommend to her. She doesnt want to spend alot on this project, as she only wants to get a couple of pictures.

So, what capture card should she get, (and where from) and what software should she get?

    Thanks!
    Danny

See if the camera has a USB port. She may also have the software to download her pictures with as well. It would have helped your post if you listed what kind of camera she has.
    Hello.

  3. I'm sorry, here's some more details.

The camera is about 8 years old and it is a Sony 8MM with no USB, Firewire, etc.

Her goal is to just take a couple of pictures off. I will try to get the model number.

    Thanks

Good enough. Get a cheap capture card with RCA inputs, and download Virtual Dub to capture her video. It can copy any frame to her clipboard, where it can be pasted to MS Paint or another software to print it out. Another tip: Printo out to high quality photo, or semi-glossy or glossy paper.
    Hello.
