I have done a couple of dvd rips using dvd shrink and all was well until I had to reformat my pc.
Now I am trying to back up Save the Last Dance and it is not going as planned.
When I reauthor the movie, the largest file is the fifth one not the first, I gothrough the process of backing it up and then burning it but the disc then says disc error. When I put the dvd in the pc to play it it just shows all the vts files.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please.
Thanks

Well since you said all was well till you reformated your PC, I would look to problems with the PC!
If it was working before then you know shrink works
So now what is different with your PC? Did you install the updates if any for your burner? Are you sure the ide controller drivers are installed correctly and your DMA is on for your burner? Can you burn anything else correctly?
Are you using the same disks and player as before when it was working? Same burn software?
I never really paid attention to my file sizes, but I think the movie VOBs are all the same size till the last one and it's just however large it needs to be to finish the movie.
Try a different movie, maybe something you did before and it worked before, see if you can do it again?
Play DVD with Power DVD player before burning and see if the DVD files work.
Check the VIDEO_TS folder and make sure you have .Ifo and .bup files as well as the .vobs.
Make sure your VIDEO_TS folder is all caps. -
I have renamed the folder with capital letters but that hasn't made any difference.
All the files appear to be there, but when I did it previous to reformatting my pc the video_ts open to video and audio but now it just opens to all the files instead. -
I have had a chance to look at the files now and there do not appear to be any ifo files.
When I looked in the folder before I had to reformatt my pc there was an audio and a video file, now there appears to be just one.
Before when I dragged the movie over the preview started playing and now it doesn't. -
When dvd shrink does the back up and I open the Video_TS file there should be an audio and video file within it but there isn't.
I have tried dvd shrink with another dvd but the same thing happens.
Could someone please tell me how to correct this problem.
Thanks -
Hi all.

You then burn both the "VIDEO_TS" and empty "AUDIO_TS" folders to create your backup. -
AHHHH!! New, scary avatar!!! Is that you??!! :cD
Post in the Halloween avatar thread so you can get added. :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

I think that may be the problem. My folder is called video_tsdance but inside that folder there is no audio folder. I guess I have to have a folder just with the name of the movie on it.
I will try that.
Thanks -
There shouldn't be an audio folder within the Video_TS folder and it should be named that, and only that, and all in caps.
Take another close look at that screenshot ddlooping provided. :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

So if I name my folder the name of the movie, all should be okay, is that right?
-
No :co You can not name it anything other than VIDEO_TS
That's what people are trying to explain.
Have a nice stretch away from the monitor, sip of water (or whatever) and re-read what's written above. Maybe it is all blurring together at the moment.
It is all in that picture just above. and here:

I think your suggestion of going away from the monitor and coming back with a fresh mind is a good idea.
The only thing is that I did make a folder called VIDEO_TS but when I had a look at it like ddlooping showed there was no AUDIO_TS folder.
I am sorry if I am not making sense, I may be better after a break. -
Aw. Good idea. :c) Don't give up, you're close. Breaks are good. We all need them once in a while.
When you're refreshed, I'd keep in mind what you've read here, but take ddlooping's advice, go to the guide and start again, knowing what you now know, you know? :c)
I'm sure you'll do fine. :c)There's no place like 127.0.0.1

I'm going crazy reading this thread!
Here it is, step by step!
1 Create a blank FOLDER.
2 Play your DVD for a few seconds to unlock it. Run your DVD through Shrink and back up to that Blank folder you created in step 1.
3 The resulting files produced by SHRINK will noe live in the blank FOLDER. There should NOT be ANY OTHER FOLDERS with the files that SHRINK crated! If for some crazy reason there are, delete them!
4 If you use NERO to burn your dvd backup, choose New DVD / Other Format / DVD/Movie mode and NERO will automaticaly create an AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folders for you.
5 Locate and DRAG ALL the files that Shrink created into the VIDEO_TS folder. DO NOT MESS with the empty AUDIO_TS folder
6 Click on Burn - Wait a while - You are DONE!!!!!
If you use another burning prog. Create your own AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, place the SHRINK file into the VIDEO_TS folder and BURN that to your DVD.
It really is too easy for words once you get the hang of it.No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
