  1. im trying to re-encode a 320 x 240 video resolution mpg file to a compliant one (352x240) via TMPGenc. So far, its OK. what i did was just to center it while keeping its aspect ratio.

    now the problem is that it does not re-encode the entire MPG file. it stops at 50:57 while the original MPG movie has 51:33 minutes. it says that the re-encoding process is already done (100%) but upon playing it, the new movie is missing its final minutes. i tried using the source range thing in the advanced setting of TMPGenc and set the last frame manually but it results to the same problem after the re-encoding process.

    what could be the problem with this scenario? is my original MPG source the culprit? if so, are there any software to fix/repair damaged MPG files?

    pls advise on how to re-encode the movie completely. thank you.

    If the source file is MPEG-1, load it into Virtual Dub and select Video
    -->Scan video stream for errors.
    Hello.

    it's possible that the mpeg was joined with a faulty joining package - there were a couple a few years ago that connected the files but incorrectly joined and opened GOP's - the net result is the file plays fine in media player - but anything that actually anylises Gop's fails

    Of course this may not be the reason at all

    sometimes
    myflix can fix some gop problems
    or you can try and find a copy of M2 edit or M1 edit - this can fix most problems even corrupted frames - but good luck getting it to work

    My problem is simaler. However you all are talking about damaged mpg files. I am stressing over a messed up cd-r (svcd) burned from an image file. so I tried extracting with iso (RAW) then tried to de-multiplex with tmpgenc. I don't know If I am doing something wrong or what, but when it gets to the audio part, tmpgenc aint ******* with me!! What I do know is that I followed the advice of a a couple of threads that I saw on here regarding repairing damaged vcds: "How to fix a broken svcd" and it has me !!!

    I can't play it in wma, if that helps. And the little bit of video I got when I tried to demux doesn't even make 10 mb. It freezes like 30 seconds into the flick. Once upon a time this was a very viewable movie, and it isn't even scratched up that bad, Ive seen worse that have played. I also tried to load into vdub to scan for errors, but vdub can't recognize avseq. or dat. files. So what do I do? I know that I am not the only one that has had this problem, so somwone come to my rescue!!
