    Hi all,

    I have a question.

Both my DVD player and DVD burner are on the same IDE.
I use Nero6 to burn and use Princo 4x and it is a -R media.
Before I start the burn process Nero tells em that it cannot burn on the same IDE.

    I know it is possible.

But how much can the IDE transfer when buring from DVD to DVD?
Can I burn at 4x or must I burn at 2x or 1x?

    Many thx. in adv.

A workaround. What about copying the DVD to be copied to your hard drive and then making your burn from the copy of you HD.

  3. You didn't say what the source DVD is. If you're trying to back up a commerical(sp) DVD you can NOT do this, you have to deCSS it first. And generally speaking it's better to rip first, then burn from the HD.

I know this doesn't really answer your question but I would recommend using DVD Decrypter for all 1:1 copies:

    1) Choose Mode "ISO - Read" and rip ISO image file to HD
    2) Choose Mode "ISO - Write", select image, and burn to DVDR disc

very simple and never produced a coaster.

    Hi,

It is already a compressed dvd. I already shrink it with DVD Shrink 3.0.
And I already burn it to a DVD-R.
But that takes 30min at 4x.
I want to burn from dvd to dvd cause it is fatser.
burning from dvd to dvd at 4x is only 15min.

But I was wondering can a IDE takes this much data when burning, if both your dvd player and dvd burner are on the same IDE?

  5. Why dont you just put your DVD-ROM drive in as the Primary Slave & your Burner in as the Secondary Master ...... Problem solved .... 4 X burning in 15 mins ... oh yeah .... also try Riteks, instead of Princo rubbish.

My dvd-rom is already secundary slave and dvd-burner as sec. master.
but they are both on the same IDE cable.

    I will try Riteks thx.

But my question is can an IDE cable take so much data transfer when burning at 4x (5.2MB/sec)

If you are burning on the fly copies, you will be better off switching your DVD-Rom drive to Primary Slave.

The second part of your question : .... probaby not.

IDE is more than fast enough to do this. Does Nero still require you to benchmark drives??? It's been ages since I set it up. You do need to turn your realtime virus protection off, it can get picky when burning.
