I have a Memorex dual format DVDR which came with Roxio on the instalation CD. I later tried to load Nero which is required for DVD Copyware. Nero wouldn't completely install unless I first removed Roxio, which I did, and then I had problems to say the least and had to restore my computer to get it working properly again.

My question is, can these two programs not co-exist? I would like to work with them both to see which I like better. What about a second hard drive? I was thinking about adding one for the added storage anyway. Would that work if they are incompatible?

    Any comments are appreciated.

I have also heard that they were incompatible, but I have both Roxio and Nero installed. They both work fine together.

  3. I too have both Nero and Roxio loaded on my machine although I only loaded the base program just to use the embedded Spin Doctor plug in. I loaded Nero 5 that came with my CDRW, upgraded to 6 recently and have never had any issues with either of them.
Thank you, Thank you very much - Elvis

  4. I believe the problems start with the packet writing app's (InCD and Direct CD). I had to remove them or Studio 8 wouldn't even work properly. If you uninstall both of these you will probably be up and running again. ................ harrymj3

It's the packet writing software for the RW's. It's also the 2 apps Roxio runs in the background to autodetect you inserting some media(packet writer and the one that launches the easy CD creator). If you can install Roxio without the packet writing software (no idea, I quit using Roxio at version 4.x) it will work.

  6. I also think it depends on your operating system, with Win 9x and ME their were issues, with 2000 or XP there are none. Check Nero's site it tells a little about this. Here is the link to make a boot menu.
