  1. Do any of you have problems with the subtitles not showing up after ripping with Smartripper? I'm doing anime from DVD 2 SVCD and some of the sub's dont show up. Anyone have this problem before? Or maybe should i try another DVDRipping program? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx in advance.

What did you do to extract the subs? Do you use subrip or a subtitle filter like vobsub?

  3. Thanx for the quick reply.

I'm not sure what you mean. I use the default settings for Smartripper. Then i convert using the FlaskMPEG/bbMPEG method to SVCD. When I preview the DVD rip (those 6+gb files) using FlaskMPEG, the sub's dont show up all the time. It is consistent when it doesnt show up; which is leading me to believe that Smartripper didnt completely rip everything... or am i mistaken?

    Thanx for any possible advice.

Oh excuse me, I always assume, everyone would use dvd2avi and frameserve. My fault, I am not very familiar with FlasK. Vitualis swears, DVD Decrypter is the better ripper, if you use FlaskMPEG.

  5. Flask uses its own IFO parser (especially if you want subtitles) so it needs the VOB files to look exactly as they do on the DVD (minus CSS of course). This is why DVD Decrypter is a better ripper as it by default rips in "File Mode". By default, SmartRipper rips in "Movie Mode" which can cause problems. If you use SmartRipper to rip in "File Mode" then there is little difference between it and DVD Decrypter.

As for your subtitle problem, FlaskMPEG does not handle subtitles properly for all titles and this can lead to some subs not showing up at all. Luckily for you, there is a "subtitle fixed" version of FlaskMPEG 0.6 that was released recently that should fix this problem. You can download it from doom9's site: http://www.doom9.net

  6. Thanx for all the help guys.

To rip in File mode with Smartripper, do you just select the file tab, rather than the movie tab? Is there anything else i would need to do differently if i ripped in File mode?

    Much thanx in advance.

    That's it.

The main movie will be the VOB set with the highest number of vob files usually.

  8. Ok, thanx.

Ok, new problem... I d/led that subfixFlask program, but cannot get it to read a rip from Smartripper. The method im using is one i found on this website that involves using:

    FlaskMPEG 0.6
    FlaskMPEG 0.6 preview 1.1
    AVIsynth
    Thunder MISM

After I select the audio/sub tracks, nothing comes up. Is it because it's a modified version of FlaskMPEG (with sub fix)?

    Thanx.

  9. I hope you ripped in "File Mode" rather than Movie Mode?

  10. I cannot even load the Smartripped image using the Subfixed FlaskMPEG... Not sure what is wrong...

  11. Again, did you rip in "File Mode"? This is why I usually suggest DVD Decrypter for Flask users...

Also, Flask sometimes freaks out... An uninstall and reinstallation sometimes cures it.
