My HP DVD Writer dvd200e will do a great job on DVD+RW disks, but not on DVD+R disks.

I do all the usual things like defrag & make sure the writer lens and media is clean,BUT still I get the "Error on Position" write errors.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  2. I believe the RW and the R lasers are different, if is possible that the drive may be partially inoperable. I had a CD-R/RW drive that broke and the RW stopped working but the R worked fine.

No they are the same laser. It takes more power to write DVD+R. Hard to say what is wrong but I agree with Tompika that retun it if it is still under warranty.

Ok,so you are saying that the Ricoh Firmware is used on the HP? Are you sure it's compatible?
