  4. default is now "no reply" when previously it was "watch this topic" but its been like that for a week or two at least.. I prefer it this way.

yeah, I pointed this out too, eons ago.

I've now feel that there is a BUG in this e-mail notification routine.

    The BUG...
When you get your e-mails through your e-mail software (SW) apps, and
you IGNORE them, ie, don't actually view them in a browser, and you
select the e-mail links (to un-black them) and then later on, continue to
do your daily routines, then look at the latest page (as we all do) and you
find a thread that you posted to, but you did not get an e-mail notification
    on it...

Its because you ignored the first time (or last time) you got a notification
on the new update. Maybe you didn't feel like viewing the topic in your
browser or whatever. But, now that you see the topic updated, you no longer
    recieve any notifications!!

The only cure to this, is to head stright to the topic thread, and read it.
Next time it's updated again, you'll receive a notification again.

Mind you, this will happen again, if you choose to ignore your thread
next time around.. at any time.

So, do bare the above when you encounter this empath.

now I know why I sometimes get emails and sometimes I don't

when I get an email notification, I click to read it using the link in the email but when I reach the site I do not get logged in and the page is shown. The times are also different as I haven't logged on. If I reply then I have to login to get to the reply page. If I just close the browser window without replying then I haven't been registered as reading the thread so I don't recieve anymore emails so that's probably why I hardly get any email notifications

I've allowed DVDRHelp cookies in my browser but I still always have to manually login to do anything when I first come to the site even if I tick the remember me box. I ain't got a clue which app is stopping it just automatically logging on and I only seem to have problems with this site and DVDForums

what's different about the cookies on this site than others like Doom9 etc that causing the problem or do others experience the same thing when visiting the site for the 1st time in a session?

I also get logged off after so long, so what's the longest you can stay logged on?

Cookie problems usually happens if you have cookies for different domains like vcdhelp.com, www.vcdhelp.com, dvdrhelp.com and www.dvdrhelp.com

    Close all browsers
Search for files containing text dvdrhelp.com and vcdhelp.com in your cookies folder and delete all those (for internet explorer usually in c:\Documents and Settings\username\Cookies)
    Login again.

that's where I am at the minute deleting it and checking my cookies . Maybe it's one of my spyware apps deleting the cookie after so long as I've just been able to login after closing all the IE browsers. If I try in a little while though it won't work

I'll check and see what's deleting the cookie, but it's strange why it only affects DVDRHelp and DVDForums

I've just left it for about 4 months now as I couldn't be bothered to post about it

    cheers
