I've just downloaded the new Mainconcept encoder and I have to say it's very impressive in terms of both speed and quality.
It's every bit as good as CCE and the direct mpeg capture works well too.
My only complaint is that the I can't seem to find a way to save the capture settings and there are a heck of a lot of them to be set before you capture.
Does anyone know how to save the settings ?

There's no way to save yet, but they are working on it. I contacted the support about this and many other problems, and they sent me a new capture DLL that fixes many bugs (like the non-working bitrate setting), but not this one yet. I can post the updated DLL here if you want.
I am getting jerky captures most of the time, even with 0 frames dropped... Are you having the same problem? I have a BT878 card.

    Scobo,

Excellent post. The capturing is a new feature of theirs that was not in 1.3.1, so please be patient with them on it. They are really good people and have a unique technology. I'm sure that it will be excellent when done.

I am a registered user of their for a while and their encoder is so incredibly fast with their great quality that, it really changed how I handle video. I never hesitate to do MPG to MPG types of encodes to change a parameter or improve something given to me. It is simply the best and why their technology is embedded in so many large vendors products.

I will tell you that I have found loads of bugs in the capturing and won't use it until the next upgrade of it.

Oh yes, last thing Scobo, I used the two pass when it came out, but now, I only use one pass because the quality is so good on the one pass, I see no need of waiting "one whole hour" for the second pass to take place.

An hour to encode 90 minutes or so of video, yee haa.

    @ vmesquita287,

I haven't done too many captures with it because of the hassle in setting it up each time.
But the few short ones I have done have been ok and I'm using a WinTV card (PCI) which I'm sure is also a BT878 card.
I'd appreciate it if you could update this thread when a fix comes out to allow the settings to be saved.

The update is here: (posted with permition from MainConcept Team)

    http://www.jltoca.uaivip.com.br/files/MCCaptureEngine.zip

    The original instructions:
Please rename the original .dll in your MPEG Encoder folder (i.e.
    CaptureEngine.dll_bak ; CapWrapper.dll_bak)
Then insert the new ones in the same folder.

This does not fix the saving settings issue, but fix almost all other bugs like bitrate and GOP, synch issues and so on.

I wrote to them describing the bug it has with PAL-M. PAL-M is a NTSC variation, and MC was recognizing as a PAL variation.
They replied that they would fix the problem, and a week later they mailed me this DLL. For my surprise, the DLL not only fixed the problem, but also fixed many other bugs. So asked them if I could post this in other forums, and now a week later they replied no problem... So I just did. But they are still working on the save setting issue.

    Hey vmesquita287,

    You are from Rio !!!!!

MY wife is from the country right next to you Chile !! I met a lot of Argentines on the Chilean beaches when I have gone there to visit.

When am I amd my family going to get an invitation to your place !!

vmesquita287, how is the economic situation doing there ?

The women from Chile and Argentina .... the ethnic mixes are so lovely.

And the nature. Mountains, oceans, lakes. We live in Colorado, but your neck of the woods has it all.
