its very good - but dvd authoring is pretty basic
lots of support -- easy to use but powerfull features ..
everything from major ad's to films now been cut on it ...
now owned by sony ..
several forums for support also .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
for video editing, love it.
for dvd authoring, the only time I use it is for intro movies or motion menus - I use DVD Lab for the actual authoring step.- housepig

I'm not what you would call an advanced video editor, but I tried Vegas, Premiere, and some lower-end editors like Ulead Video Studio and Pinnacle Studio 8. I found Vegas as easy to use as the low end programs, and as complete as Premiere (for my uses anyway). I like that it has the MPEG encoder and Dolby Digital built-in. For DVD authoring, I use DVD-Lab.
One piece of advice: try both Vegas and DVD-Lab, they both have trials available. -
see my profile ..i use it on a dual xeon 2.8 .. but you don't need that kind of system to run it ...

same here - look under my computer details, it lists the specs on my video box.

Vegas 4 is excellent. I was a premier user (6.5) for years and switched easilly. Much smoother editing, intuitive, far less crashing. I'm a happy guy...hope it only gets better now that Sony bought it.
