    for video editing, love it.

for dvd authoring, the only time I use it is for intro movies or motion menus - I use DVD Lab for the actual authoring step.

I'm not what you would call an advanced video editor, but I tried Vegas, Premiere, and some lower-end editors like Ulead Video Studio and Pinnacle Studio 8. I found Vegas as easy to use as the low end programs, and as complete as Premiere (for my uses anyway). I like that it has the MPEG encoder and Dolby Digital built-in. For DVD authoring, I use DVD-Lab.

One piece of advice: try both Vegas and DVD-Lab, they both have trials available.

  5. Cool---

Thank you... for both of you using Vegas and DVD Lab -- what kind of systems do you have? motherboard/processor/ram ? video capturing hardware?

    Thanks!

  8. Vegas 4 is excellent. I was a premier user (6.5) for years and switched easilly. Much smoother editing, intuitive, far less crashing. I'm a happy guy...hope it only gets better now that Sony bought it.
