I am recording VHS tapes to harddisk with the Formac Studio tv. One hour of film directly from Formac studio tv in one big 12,5 GB file. Every time I want to convert this file to MPEG4 with mencoder the conversion is finished after 9 min. 57 sec.

I also recorded the movie in iMovie. iMovie imports the whole 1 hour movie in pieces of max. 9 minuts. I put all pieces to one film and export the movie in one file. After this I tried to convert this file to MPEG4 mencoder (ffmpeg does not work). This conversion also stops after 9 min and 57 sec.

I am using Mac OS X version 10.2.8 on a PowerBook G4 667 Mhz 768 MB.

I used ffmpeg version 0.0.8d and 0.0.9

When I open the movie in Quicktime and export the movie to Divx with the Divx encoder the whole movie is converted after 5 hours.

I would like to use ffmpeg, but do not know what is going wrong.
