  1. I have Nero Burning Rom 5.5.10.54, and it works great. I would like some feedback on the new 6th version.

What I do most is just plain burns (DVD -own videos, DVD to DVDR, backups- and CD), and I use the cover editor, too. I don't use the wave editor, or anythine else like the VCD autoring tool. But the bundled backup of Nero 6 looks good, I could replace what I do now with PolderBackup and maybe Veritas SimpleBackup (this one has crash recovery).
Also the ability to author DVD is nice to have, but I already have MyDVD 4.5 (came with my DVD burner), so it's not a requirement.

So is it worth Nero 6?

When it comes to software, I try to adhere to the tried-and-true "if it works, don't f**k with it" rule. Right now, Nero 5.5 does everything I need, and does it well; nothing in Nero 6 has been compelling enough to make me upgrade. The inevitable hassle just isn't worth it, at least not at this time (and letting Nero 6 shake itself out for a while isn't a bad idea).

So, I'd say that if Nero 5.5 is working for you, just stick with it. I doubt that Nero 6 is going anywhere any time soon, so you'll always have the opportunity to upgrade.

  3. If you use 6 be sure you get all the patches for it.

  4. I agree with MJPollard. I would wait for some later version of 6. Same thing with 5.5. The later versions of 5.5 are much more robust & reliable.

  5. Thanks for the comments. From what I see it's better to wait a bit, however Ahead has always given a good support to their products (even now Nero 5.5 is still updated) . Maybe I will download it to try it.
