About a month ago I bought a PS2 Modchip, Magic 4.5, and, not being of steady hand nor well-versed in soldering, I had given it to my friend's father to mod for me. Well, I got it back the other day, and upon plugging it in, I noticed that the bootup screen failed to come up, the DVD would spin in the drive (initially, the drive tray would not "spit", so I had to take the top off to correct the drive tray's path for the time being, that's how I know exactly how the DVD spun) for about a second, then slowly move a little about 4 or 5 times, spin back, then quit. I know he said he had taken a trace off of the board, but had run a jumper (most likely a small piece of wire) to correct this (though I don't think something as sophisticated as a PS2 would like being "jumped"). Anyway, I'd love to know if I should continue to fiddle with it, or if my PS2 is just fried, or it wasn't put back together properly, or if I have to finagle something to play the games, or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what were the instructions with the chip ?
Just replace it ? or was the trace cut part of the deal ?
Or did Mr Fixit screw up removing the old chip and damage the
board. If he damaged it , maybe he didn't fix all of the traces.
Is it surface mount chip or a thru-hole ?
If was thru- hole you should have put in a socket -
get round to his house and kick his ass man..
hes fried it.
ive done a ton of magics and none of them required what hes done.
sounds like he wasnt too steady with his hands,or hes made a contact where there shouldnt be one.
