french sub titles.

Hi folks,
Rip my dvds to vcd with smartripper, then dvd2avi, TMPGEnc, finally burn with Nero, everything works brill, till I tried a french film with english subtitles. Final offering, no subtitles just french!!!
What have I done wrong???

You must manually add the subs

Thanks for that, I will try & the film was Jean de Florette! mucky minded person!
Incidently I tried taxi 2 & the titles came through with that.
