  1. Hi. Pasted below are the specs of a file I'm having problems with. So far, only VLC can play it properly but that's no good as I want to play the file on my TV via a HDD media player. I'll need to convert it which I know xmediarecode can do - apparently it was going to take 60 hours so I aborted but the piece it converted was perfect.

Does anyone know of a tool that would convert this file fairly quickly i.e. less than a day(!)?

My thanks for any advice or suggestions.

It's a standard quicktime mp4 with avc/h264 video. Try another all-in-one converter like freemake video converter, format factory, avidemux.

If they also fails try mpeg streamclip or quicktime pro.

What kind of media player do you have? Just about everything should be able to play that without conversion.

  4. Thanks, Baldrick - I'm downloading freemake and will give that a go.
jman98 - it's a Western Digital TV Live Hub. It may play the file, I haven't checked. But the file needs editing first and my usual splitters - boilsoft, avidemux - won't do it. That's why I'm trying to convert then edit.
