  1. Hi All,

Could you please advise the best software to use for creating VCD/SVCD from downloaded movies. The files vary from AVI, DIVX and MPG. These files are around 700Mb so I guess that spanning across two disks would probably be needed.

    Thanks For Your Time

Have you read any of the guides/how to's on AVI to (S)VCD left?
You'll need an encoder (TMPGEnc or Cinemacraft or MainConcept or...) and an authoring application - Here VCDEasy (a front for VCDIamger) in its last free incarnation is strongly recommended.
To this, add an arsenal of audio and video editors like VirtualDub MP3 Freeze (Video), SoundForge (Audio), Goldwave (Audio)...
You'll also need a great deal of patience as downloaded AVIs are mostly crap, full of bad frames and other nasty stuff that makes the transition to (S)VCD pretty rough.

  4. one small piece of advice, try and make your post subject line a little more explanatory, lots of people skip posts that give no real indication of their content.
