  1. I ripped 3 movies using smartripper, now when I goto nero6 and try to create a dvd-video disc, it gives me an error saying "Video files are not into complince with dvd-video format". And then it quits.....

I gues my main question is, I have the ifo, and vobs, is there anyway to re-autherize them? i've tried dvdshrink but it gives me an error when try to open them.

  8. Look Nero does suck (doesn't mean that it doesn't work). But the problem sounds like you only ripped the main movie (not the full DVD) and then tried to drag/drop the VOB/IFO files in Nero to burn. You can not do this.

DVD Video discs use a file structure, NOT a file format. You can't just drag/drop or cut/paste like regulat video. The VOB files contained multiplex video (m2v) audio (ac3 or PCM) and subtitles. The IFO files contain all the infomration about chapter points, command seqs (eg. menu buttons, goto, next) etc.

If you didn't rip the ENTIRE DVD then most programs do not know what do with the left over pieces. Here's what you can do:

    1) Open the IFO file for each VOB group in IFOEdit, click 'get VTS sectors', this will generate new VIDEO_TS.IFO/VIDEO_TS.VOB files to re-create a useable DVD file structure.

    2) Run DVD Shrink, click re-author. Drag drop each video titleset you want into the new window. Set compress as necessary. Backup.

    3) Burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a blank DVDR

I wasn't aware that "get VTS Sectors" made new ifos.

well, it does but I cant re-authorize it
    Re-authorizing is not authorized

  11. I assume you still have access to the DVD's so I suggest you Rip them again using DVD Shrink which will generate the VOB and IFO files for you. In the process you can also select whether you want film only or all the extras as well.

you did rip the dvd's in file mode didnt you? check that file mode is selected when you rip the dvd and that you havent selected movie or backup mode, once ripped in file mode you should be able to re encode with dvd shrink
