  1. My new (cheap) DVD player does play DVDR's....just not the ones I make. Then my old one (that doesn't even recognize CDR's) recognizes my DVDR's. I've been ripping with ShrinkDVD on Region 0. And burning with Nero. Should I try using Region 1? Should I use DVD Decrypter after using using Shrink Dvd?

I also backed up an original DVD that was under 4.7, and that worked on both players. I'm lost?????????????

Which version of Nero are you using 5.0 whatever or Nero 6. And no you would not need to use DVD Decrypter after using DVD Shrink. Also are both of you DVD players on the list to the left, under "DVD Player" do they play and support the media? And please be aware of your usage of terms. You start off by saying that your new cheap DVD player does play DVDRs. If you are talking about a Hollywood produced DVD then you are referring to a DVD-9. Also is your second DVD Player region free? Do a little research for yourself first. It "the problem" could be one of several factors. The DVD Player itself, the media you are using and feeding it, your method (old Nero 5 did not include the empty (AUDIO_TS folder) and some players need this in order to play. The New Nero 6 now has this.

  3. My cheap DVD Player is Cinevision. The thing is DVDR's do work on them, just not the ones I'm making. I made one that worked, but that was an Authorized DVD 5. I'm using Memorex discs and I am using Nero 6 to burn. I don't know, maybe there is no answer. Maybe one of you know.....

  4. Are you including an empty AUDIO_TS folder when you burn? DVD Shrink doesn't create one, so you have to make one yourself. You can also try a different burning software.

In Nero 6 are you using the DVD Video template or the UDF/ISO? I have an old Toshiba SD1009 and it will not play any DVD-R burned as UDF/ISO but will play those burned with the DVD Video template.
My newer Sampo and Cyberhome will play anything.

  6. first off don't rip to region 0, you should ripping to all regions which inserts code for each region instead of the 0 for region ALL which has been known to cause issues with some players. In Nero 6.0.0.11 (do not use 6.0.0.15 as it has a lot of glitches) choose DVD-Video option. you can inserts a disk title on the label tab but do do not change any other options. go to burn tab and click new. drag the folder with your ripped data to the VIDEO_TS folder that nero has created. then just click burn and it should work fine. I've never failed to have a DVD play this way but there are exceptions for hardware that could cause issues. also if you see an option for it make sure to set booktype to DVD-ROM. this should be available for most Ricoh writers. if its not available you may want to use DVDInfo to check your writer's default booktype.
