I bought a copy of the first season of Stargate SG1 used. It was cheap but it also seems to have mild damage to the disks. Anyway while playing them on my dvd player some of the episodes will just freeze and im forced to skip to the next chapter and rewind back to a few seconds past where the freeze happens. My question is has anyone came up wiht a good way to not so much fix the errors because I know the damage is more then likely perment. But be able to make a back up that will play and not freeze on the stand alone. So basicly have artifacts of damage but still otherwise play fine.
I usually use DVD Decrypter to rip the dvds. Anyone have suggestions for settings to use? If I pick ignore on bad sectors does it fill the space with info that should otherwise play fine or would I have to run it though TmpgEnc or other error fixing software?
Anyway thanks for anyhelp you can give me.

I would try 2 things. !st, see if it skips on the computer. You would be surprised how well a PC DVD player/recorder will do on a scratched DVD. If so, copying should be no problem. The other is to try a disc doctor.
A disc doctor can remove scratches from dvd's and cd's. This can work if the scratch isn't too deep. You can pick up a disc doctor at walmart for about $29. But try it on the computer 1st if you have a dvd player/burner.MMMMMMMMMMMMM..........sprinkles
