problem with ps2 playback

has anyone had playback problems with backup dvd's playing in there ps2??? I use DVD Decrypter, dvd shrink, then dvd clone. i can play a movie then about half way my ps2 freezes up. then i put the same dvd in my xbox and some of them work and some of them don't on. Does anyone have anyhelp with this matter???

i am using imation dvd+r's any suggestions???

The PS2 dvd drive is not the best quality. It can be pretty picky about media. What version PS2 do you have? V5 and under can have issues with +R media, and anything under a V4 don't read them at all.

ps2's enjoy -r media. Very few can read +r, except for the newest model.

I use -r with 100% success.

It's not fair to say "very few". Let's say "very few of the older ones". Older means more than a year old. Remember a year and a half ago at Christmastime, the Gran Turismo 3 bundle pack? That was v4. Everything before that just CAN'T read +R, v4's had a 50/50 success rate, and everything newer (as in LAST summer, a year+ ago) can read +R without problems.
