  1. Was wondering if anyone knows what the native mpeg encoder in Ulead VS7 is. Also, if anyone knows if I can use separate (i.e. Mainconcept or Canopus) encoders with VS7.

    TIA,

    JDC

I think all current Ulead products use "Mpeg. Now" and prior versions used "Ligos GoMotion MPEG software compression technology".
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  3. Thanks - it's actually not v.good that's why I'm shopping around. Any idea about plugging in Mainconcept's Mpeg encoder? Would that work?

    Thanks again,

I don't know about that. I think I've read there's been a development to frameserve with TempEnc though. Might be worth a try.

    If I re-find it, I'll post a link.

    Found it. http://www.videotools.net/index.php?rub=guides&htm=announceuleadvideoserverplugin.htm

but I'm wrong - it's for MediaStudioPro. I use both, so I confused myself.

    Sorry

But... if you ever moved up to MSPro - you can use Mainconcept -

Also - read somewhere (here) that Mpeg.now is "based on Mainconcept encoder". But I am not clear on what differences there might be.

According to Mainconcept, Ulead uses the MC codec tailored to their software. I read somewhere that you can substitute some VegasVideo MC codec files for some of the new MC 1.4 files and they work. Also, substituting those files in Vegas will make Ulead VideoStudio 7 use them, too. Maybe somebody has tried this.
